Echo: Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Krysten Ritter are reportedly returning for Marvel’s new series

Marvel Studios is adding some of its most in-demand characters to the cast of its Echo series. According to The Weekly Planet podcast (via The Hollywood Reporter), Charlie Cox (DaredevilThe Defenders), Vincent D’Onofrio (Full Metal JacketHawkeye), and Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) are joining the show starring Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, aka Echo.

Charlie Cox and Vicent D’Onofrio will reprise their roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Kingpin, respectively. Meanwhile, Ritter will once again strap on some boots made for walkin’ as Jessica Jones. The plan is to merge popular Marvel characters from Netflix’s now-defunct Marvel series into the MCU. Previously, Cox’s Matt Murdock appeared in Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, while D’Onofrio’s Kingpin played a significant role in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.

Per Marvel Studios:

Echo follows Maya Lopez (Cox) as her life in New York as a gang leader catches up with her as she returns to her hometown and reconnects with her Native American roots. She already has tangled with Kingpin in a fight in the Hawkeye finale after learning he was responsible for the death of her beloved uncle, William Lopez (Zahn McClarnon). McClarnon reprises his role with other cast members, including Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning, and Graham Greene. Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie direct episodes, with Marion Dayre as head writer.

Suppose Ritter reprises her role as Jones for Echo, which leaves Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher waiting in the wings as would-be members of the MCU. This progression would create quite the stir. Fans have speculated that Luke Cage (Mike Coulter) and The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) will eventually return as their respective heroes, though no one is holding their breath for Finn Jones’ Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist. Marvel’s Iron Fist wasn’t the studio’s best showing, with Iron Fist amounting to little more than memes and bad jokes across social media. Marvel may recast the character or retire him entirely. Only time will tell.

How Daredevil, Kingpin, and Jessica Jones could factor into Echo remains a mystery. The characters share an extensive history, so it’s not a stretch for them to connect in the new series. Marvel offered no comment when questioned about the trio joining the cast of Echo, but many publications are confident that this new information is legit.

Are you excited for Daredevil, Kingpin, and Jessica Jones to join the cast of Echo? Does this overshadow Maya Lopez’s solo series or make it better? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
