Dwayne Johnson is, understandably, the tough, muscular, capable hero in all of his movies. I mean, it’s hard not to be when it looks like you could pick up a horse and hurl at a gang of thugs. But in the new movie SKYSCRAPER, Johnson is constantly at a disadvantage and hanging on for dear life as he tries to save his family from the most towering of infernos. The new trailer is as action-packed as they come, showing Johnson like you’ve never seen him before, but no less capable of kicking everyone’s ass.
Global icon Dwayne Johnson leads the cast of Legendary’s Skyscraper as former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran Will Sawyer, who now assesses security for skyscrapers. On assignment in China he finds the tallest, safest building in the world suddenly ablaze, and he’s been framed for it. A wanted man on the run, Will must find those responsible, clear his name and somehow rescue his family who is trapped inside the building…above the fire line.
The movie certainly looks like DIE HARD on a hefty dose of steroids, and I like how Johnson looks to be in more trouble than usual. It's so easy to make him look like an indestructible hero, so I like it when he's thrown into a problem so massive all he can do is use his wits and luck to come out of it in one piece. But, of course, he was always going to make that jump. Only he and Tom Cruise are capable of making such daring leaps.
SKYSCRAPER hits theaters July 13.
