Dwayne Johnson is his very own marketing machine and he has no problem starting early. One of the biggest movie stars in the world took to his social media to reveal an ominous new look at his debut as DC anti-hero Black Adam in costume via a pretty sleek-looking Total Film cover.
Johnson posted an image of the cover on his Twitter page with a caption that reads, “You’re right. Superheroes don’t kill people. But I do. #BlackAdam.” The caption goes on to say, “The hierarchy of power in the DC universe is changing. I’m pumped to share with you our new @TotalFilm subscriber cover. Black Adam is a DC Comics character that started as the archenemy of Captain Marvel, later named Shazam! The character is an Egyptian prince who was chosen by the wizard Shazam! to be his champion until the power corrupted him. Due to that corruption, Black Adam was chained up and sealed away for millennia but is released in present times with a thirst for vengeance. The character received a more sympathetic back story in later comics that turned him into more of an anti-hero. Black Adam is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and, in addition to Johnson, the film also stars Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Quintessa Swindell, Marwan Kenzari, and Sarah Shai.
