Dwayne Johnson Shazam Black Adam

It's been a handful of years since Dwayne Johnson first signed on to play Black Adam, but progress on the film has been slow to say the least. Johnson's busy schedule is probably to blame, as the actor has more than a few projects on his slate, but it seems that there's finally been some movement on SHAZAM!. Earlier in the year it was rumoured that the project was being split into two separate films, with one focusing on Shazam and the other on Black Adam, and now Johnson has confirmed the rumour while speaking with MTV.

We’ve had great discussions with Geoff Johns over at DC. This is a really fun, cool time for DC right now because they’re world-building. We’re seeing that with Wonder Woman and Aquaman. We have a few surprises down the line. So what we decided to do was to create a scenario where Black Adam has his stand-alone movie, and Captain Marvel, Shazam, has his stand-alone movie. We’re building our world that way, and then we can come together at some point.

We may be close to finding out more about the project as Dwayne Johnson also teased that they "have a surprise for Black Adam coming up." Johnson wouldn't say what it would be, only saying that "it's gonna be f**king awesome." If you'd like a refresher on what Shazam and Black Adam are all about, make sure to check out our Everything You Need to Know feature which focuses on the pair.

I mentioned that Dwayne Johnson's slate was fairly packed, and boy is it ever; THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS is due to hit theaters on April 14th, followed by BATWATCH on May 26, 2017 and JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE on December 20, 2017. Johnson is also due to begin shooting RAMPAGE fairly soon, which is based upon the classic video-game which featured three mutated gigantic monsters laying waste to cities and landmarks. After that he has SKYSCRAPER, SAN ANDREAS 2, DOC SAVAGE and a reboot of John Carpenter's BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA in various stages of development. Meanwhile, I've put off fixing the shed in the backyard for the third year running.
