Black Adam finally hit screens, and when Dwayne Johnson does something, he always does it big. Not only is Black Adam a villain equal to Shazam, but the former wrestler has made it known that he wants to have a throwdown with the Man of Steel himself. Johnson and Henry Cavill both took to social media after Black Adam was released to reveal Johnson’s plan of eventually having his character go toe-to-toe with Superman in a war of the gargantuas.

Deadline has reported on a Twitter video that Johnson had posted which claimed Warner Bros. initially did not want to bring Henry Cavill back as the blue boy scout. He was adamant that it had to happen and refused to take “no” for an answer.

We have to bring back the most powerful, unstoppable force of all time in any universe. And you guys know who I’m talking about? Of course, that is Superman. And that’s Henry Cavill.

This has been years in the making regarding bringing Henry Cavill back and years of strategic conversations and we were not going to take no for an answer. There was no way, there’s no viable logical way that you can attempt to build out the DC Universe without the most powerful force and the greatest superhero of all time sitting on the sidelines. It’s impossible to do.”

Johnson added that he felt Cavill is the definitive Superman, “It all comes back to where Superman you have to have Superman in the mix. So that’s why we fought hard to bring Superman back, Henry Cavill, and there was no other Superman, by the way, to bring back Henry Cavill is our generation Superman and in my opinion, the greatest Superman. And I mean that respectfully to the other actors, especially Christopher Reeve, but the greatest Superman of all time.”

Dwayne Johnson has boasted that with Black Adam’s entrance into the DC universe, the “hierarchy of power has changed” and noted in the video that the studio was “inexplicably and inexcusably” opposed to bringing Cavill back. However, he is a powerful presence in Hollywood himself and finally convinced the studio to reconsider.
