THE GRUDGE: EXTENDED VERSION
Bloody-Disgusting got the scoop that the american remake of The Grudge (see Arrow’s review here) will be getting an extended version to hit DVD shelves. The date set for the release is May 3rd. Douple Dippers rejoice as the flick comes sporting a longer 98-minute cut of the film in wide screen and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. To the right you see the rather nice cover that accompanies the welcomed DVD…No extra features have been announced as of yet, but this is good news that people are finally realizing what the horror community wants, unrated and uncut horror!
If you can’t get enough of Buffy, then Pre-order The Grudge now!
CHRONICLES OF THE RAVEN
Lions Gate Home Entertainment has issued a date and cover art for the upcoming DVD release for Chronicles of the Raven.
The movie, based on the books of James Barclay, tells the tale of a young woman who travels to Argentina after the death of her sister and discovers her family’s legacy of evil. The DVD will be presented in Full-Frame only form (blah) with Stereo Sound and an Audio Commentary. Look for Chronicles of the Raven to hit shelves on May 31st…
DEVOUR
Devour was originally set for a theatrical release from Screen Gems but not any more. It will instead go direct-to-video headed by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film is directed by David Winkler and stars Jensen Ackles. The story you ask? Well, it’s about a computer game that can cause death and chaos in the real world. Brainscan anyone? Well, at least Brainscan was a fairly entertaining movie, hopefully we can say the same for this flick. No artwork or special features announced yet.
If this movie could be half as entertaining as this cheesy yet fun and innovative flick from ’94 then we could have a gem on our hands. We can only hope…
INFECTION AND PREMONITION
And here we have two more releases from the modern "Horror Kings" at Lions Gate Home Entertainment. The first film is a J-Horror Theater film called Infection. The release date to "catch" the flick is May 17th. The second being a film called Premonition a J-Horror Theater film. The date for this one is July 5th. Both films are being produced by The Grudge’s Taka Ichise. Both films have received positive reviews from critics such as Fangoria. Here’s a few of the extras for the DVDs…
Includes:
- 16×9 wide screen presentation
- Japanese 5.1 and 2.0 Sound
- English and Spanish subtitles
- Behind the Scenes of Premonition
If your looking to get infected than click here to pre-order Infection.
HELLRAISER: DEADER
Dimension recently announced the date for the next installment in the ever-growing Hellraiser series. Now they have released the cover for the film. If I were to judge it I would say it has a good concept but a rather disappointing look to it as it seems almost laughable and cheesy sorta like the title (is that even a word, anyway?) Hopefully the movie doesn’t follow in the same pattern. We will be able to find out on June 7th when Pinhead makes his way to a DVD shelf near you.
If you can’t possibly wait any longer to be tortured for the seventh time then pre-order this mofo right now!
RACE WITH THE DEVIL
DavisDVD got news from Anchor Bay that the 1975 Cult-classic Race with the Devil (see Arrow’s review here) will finally be released on DVD and in the Divimax Edition format. For those who have seen the flick, you know what a hoot it was back in the day and still remains a cheesy, yet addicting fun flick. Fast paced and full of old-school twists, it should be seen by all horror fans alike. If that gets your motor running, then read on for the features of the disc…
Includes:
- Anamorphic wide screen transfer
- Audio commentary with producer Paul Maslansky
- English and Spanish subtitles
- Interview with Peter Fonda
- Trailers
Ahhh…the nostalgia makes me want to just go ahead and do what you should do… Pre-order the movie right now!
