DARK WATER

Following in the much treaded footsteps of recent Horror films, Touchstone has announced that Dark Water
(Check Arrow’s review here)
will be released in an Unrated Edition. I don’t know why we bother to see the film in theaters when it’s never what the Director wants you to see. You wait four months later and it’s on DVD. Yet we continue to buy them because, after all, Jennifer Connelly is hot. The film is set for a December 26th release and here is the early word on some of the extras…

Includes:

  • 16×9-enhanced 2.35:1 widescreen
  • Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound
  • Deleted scenes
  • The Beneath the Surface: The Making of DARK WATER featurette
  • The Sound of Terror featurette about the film’s use of subliminal audio
  • A third featurette on the shooting of the movie’s most intense sequences. (More bonus materials may be added.)

It should also be noted that the film will be released on UMD (PSP) on the same date.

LAND OF THE DEAD: Unrated

Universal has released the Cover Art for both versions of George A. Romero’s Land of the Dead (Arrow’s review, just a click away). Of course the Unrated version looks so much better and kick-ass than the plain and dull R-Rated edition. Much like the comparison between Unrated and R-Rated films themselves. Why bother with the R-Rated version anyway, you know it’s not as good as uncut, uncensored and in the vision of the Director. In case you are living under a rock or are a member of the living dead, I present the extras…

Includes:

#advanceampads1#
  • Running Time: 1 hour 33 minutes
  • Will be presented in Full Frame Only
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 Surround tracks
  • An audio commentary with George Romero, producer Peter Grumwald and editor Michael Doherty
  • An Undead Again: The Making of Land of the Dead featurette
  • A Day with the Living Dead featurette
  • Deleted scenes
  • When Shaun met George featurette
#advanceampads2#
  • Includes all of the above as well as…
  • A Bringing the Dead to Life featurette
  • A Scenes of Carnage feature
  • A feature on the Zombie Effects from Green Screen to Finished Scene
  • A Bringing the Storyboards to Life feature
  • Scream Tests: Zombie Casting Call

I know which version you want… so go get it now!

CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST: 25th Anniversary Edition

Boy, am I getting old! It seemed like just a couple years ago when this movie was the talk of the Underground horror scene. Everyone talked of it’s realistic brutality as it gained tremendous cult classic status. Now it’s being released in the U.S. and getting the treatment it deserves. Set for an October 25th date, the DVD is being limited to 11,111 copies so you will have to act fast to get your hands on a copy of this soon to be non-existent DVD. Below is what you can expect on the 2-Disc Special Edition…
