DVD Buzz-Saw #24

DOMINION: Prequel to the Exorcist

The much talked about and much shafted version of The Prequel to the Exorcist is finally making it’s way to DVD for the viewers to be the judge. I mean, it would have to be a total shit-fest to be worse than Renny Harlin’s version. Paul Schrader’s Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist has been given an October 25th release. Considered more of a drama approach to the subject, either way, it will probably prove once again, the “big suits” don’t know shit about what true Horror fans want. I’ll pass on the terrible CGI ending, just give me a good story with some good scares and I’ll be happy. Details on the disc are…

Includes:

  • Presented in anamorphic widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 track
  • An audio commentary with the director
  • A selection of deleted scenes
  • A stills gallery

Thanks go to DVDAnswers for the kick ass covers they always supply! Supply yourself with a pre-ordered copy of Dominion here.

THE DEVIL’S REJECTS: Unrated

Never one to hold news from it’s fellow horror fans, Lions Gate has released details on the DVD for it’s recent rampage of total carnage, The Devil’s Rejects (see Arrow’s positive review) . Already placing itself among those horror films that are either loved or hated. Well, I loved the damn thing and I am proud of it. Balls to the wall filmmaking and crude humor just may be my bag, but I found the movie entertaining and full exploding with fun. Those who weren’t fans, maybe the Unrated version of the film will change your minds as it is hitting shelves on November 8th along side the R-Rated disc. The extras will include…

LAND OF THE DEAD: Unrated

I think I might as well just wait for the damn DVD’s to come out to see the Director’s true versions. Yet again, another big-name flick is getting an Unrated cut for it’s DVD. This time it is George A. Romero’s latest Land of the Dead (see Arrow’s review) . As I watched the film, it did feel kind of out of place at some spots and I’m sure it was the MPAA delivering it’s lethal overhand axes where it deemed necessary. It is said to be a 4 minute difference in total running time between the two, and if it’s mostly gore that is A LOT of missed material. On October 18th, this is what you can expect on both versions of Land of the Dead…
