EVIL DEAD 2

On September 13th, Anchor Bay will put forth another interesting and innovative DVD release with Evil Dead 2: The Book of the Dead Edition (see Arrow’s review here) . The cover itself is designed by FX guru Tom Sullivan and the coolest thing about the cover is that it has an eye in which if you poke it a sound chip lets of a howling scream. Say it with me “Sweet”. THE MAN WITH THE SCREAMING BRAIN and ALIEN APOCALYPSE

It seems like Bruce Campbell is making his come back in the horror genre with even more exposure with the release of his two new movies. The first being Campbell’s directorial debut with The Man With The Screaming Brain. The other film stars the horror icon in Alien Apocalypse. Both films are slated for an October 4th release. No addition information on extras has been announced but you can be assured their will be some content from Ash…err…Bruce…

MGM Titles

From DavisDVD, comes this bit of news from MGM Home Entertainment who plans on release a bunch of horror films on September 20th. The titles include After Midnight, Dolls, From a Whisper to a Scream, The House Where Evil Dwells, Lady in White, Night Visitor, Swamp Thing and the Midnite Movies double feature discs Die, Monster, Die!/The Dunwich Horror, Tales Of Terror/Twice Told Tales, Panic In Year Zero/The Last Man On Earth and Voodoo Island/The Four Skulls Of Jonathan Drake . MGM is also planning on releasing The Species Collector’s Box Set Collection, a four-disc set that includes The Unrated editions of Species, Species II and Species III as well as a bonus disc with extras. Not only that but Dolls will finally be available on DVD. All coming on September 20th, for more information on the long awaited Dolls DVD, look below.

NAIL GUN MASSACRE

Updating an old old story of where I told you that Synapse Films is planning on releasing The Nail Gun Massacre. Now I bring you the cover art and the full specs of the disc which hits the DVD stand on October 25th. The Texas-lensed 1985 film starts out with a violent gang rape and continues with the perpetrators getting bumped off one by one with the titular weapon by a masked assailant. Can the local sheriff and town doctor unveil and stop the wisecracking madman before everybody gets nailed?

  • A new 16×9-enhanced 1.78:1 transfer from the only remaining original vault materials
