The last news we brought you guys on director Denis Villeneuve's upcoming reboot and/or readaptation of Frank Herbert's DUNE was to let you know that the film was still on course.
Today we have news from the BLADE RUNNER 2049 director that his hopes for the new take on DUNE (which was adapted already into a film by David Lynch) are to make it like "STAR WARS for adults."
Denis Villeneuve on DUNE:
Most of the main ideas of Star Wars are coming from Dune so it’s going to be a challenge to [tackle] this. The ambition is to do the Star Wars movie I never saw. In a way, it’s Star Wars for adults.

DUNE synopsis:
Set in the distant future, “Dune” follows Paul Atreides, whose family assumes control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, jurisdiction over Arrakis is contested among competing noble families. After Paul and his family are betrayed, the story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship to nature, as Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s reign.
