Many have already come to the realization that Florence Pugh and Zendaya are incredible performers – in fact, Zendaya recently won an Emmy for her performance in the HBO series Euphoria, and Pugh received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in the 2019 version of Little Women. Now Timothée Chalamet is hyping up their roles in the upcoming Dune: Part Two, the second half of director Denis Villeneuve‘s two-part adaptation of the Frank Herbert novel Dune (which is set to reach theatres on November 3, 2023) by describing them both as, yes, incredible.
Chalamet told Variety, “Florence is really special. She’s an incredible actor. She was incredible in (Dune: Part Two) — seriously incredible. She brought a gravitas to the role. And I can’t believe my good fortune at this young age…between (acting with) Taylor Russell in Bones and All and Zendaya in Dune. And Austin Butler’s in (the Dune sequel) too.“
Chalamet confirmed that Pugh has already wrapped her work on Dune: Part Two, but Zendaya hasn’t yet. Speaking of Zendaya’s work in the sequel, Chalamet said, “it’s amazing. She’s bringing exactly what she brought to the first one — which was incredible — but in greater abundance. And she’s really become a sister. I’m so grateful to count her as a partner and a sister and a friend.“
Scripted by Villeneuve, Eric Roth, and Jon Spaihts, Dune: Part One stars Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, “a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding” who
must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence – a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential – only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
Chalamet, Zendaya, and Dune: Part One co-stars Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin are coming back for Part Two.
Villeneuve and Spaihts have written the screenplay for Dune: Part Two. Villeneuve is also producing the film with Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Tanya Lapointe, and Patrick McCormick. Spaihts serves as executive producer alongside Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, Thomas Tull, Richard P. Rubinstein, and John Harrison. Kevin J. Anderson is creative consultant.
