Last week we got news that the GREEN LANTERN CORPS movie took a big step forward by hiring David Goyer and Justin Rhodes to pen the script. Now the speculation train is chugging as to who will be starring as Hal Jordan and John Stewart, and which lucky director will get to bring the green heroes to life. Though we don't have any answers to those questions, we can say who is not directing the movie: Duncan Jones. The SOURCE CODE and WARCRAFT helmer recently took to Twitter to share his thoughts on a potential GREEN LANTERN movie, and they are quite…thoughtful.
Okay that's actually pretty funny. Of course this was all in jest, and Jones makes that perfectly clear by affirming he will not be tackling any sort of GREEN LANTERN movie.
This came on the heels of the aforementioned news that Goyer and Rhodes will pen the script which is being described as “Lethal Weapon in space", while THE PEOPLE VS. O.J. SIMPSON star Sterling K. Brown also voiced his desire to play John Stewart in the movie. See, not everyone hates Green Lantern!
I’m sure there are plenty of comic book fans who want a great GREEN LANTERN movie, but so far not everyone sounds excited about the flick. Jones’s idea is actually pretty funny as some sort of satirical concept, so hopefully Lantern fans don’t rip him apart too bad. Who knows, maybe his idea could actually be better than what DC finishes with. What a world!
The GREEN LANTERN CORPS movie is aiming for a 2020 release.
