So apparently DUCK TALES is getting a reboot series from Disney XD. A popular children's show in the late '80s-early '90s, DUCK TALES centered on Scrooge McDuck – a rich, stingy duck – who went on adventures with his three identical (save for shirt and hat color) nephews. It also has been said that the tales of Scrooge McDuck (in the comics that inspired the cartoon) greatly influenced George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, most notably the famous "escaping the giant boulder" scene from RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARC.
Here's what Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President, Programming, and General Manager for Disney XD, had to say about the reboot:
DuckTales has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation.
And here's the teaser trailer:
Huh. No footage. Even teasers of teaser trailers usually have footage. I guess we know Scrooge McDuck will still be rich at least. We can all rest easy now.
You know, not going to lie, with the political climate being what it is, I'm not sure I want to root for an uber-rich and stingy asshole who swindles third world countries of their treasures. But maybe that's just me. The comments section on this one should be fun.
At least the theme song is still catchy.
But who cares what the f*ck I think, any actual fans of DUCK TALES out there? If so, what are your thoughts on a reboot? Sound off below!
DUCK TALES will premiere on Disney XD sometime next year in 2017.
