As much as I'm looking forward to the HBO series based on Michael Crichton's 1973 sci-fi thriller WESTWORLD, I didn't really feel the need to watch another trailer for it less than three weeks after the previous trailer was released… But okay, sure, I'll check it out.
Created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who also executive produce the series with J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk, the new take on the Westworld concept is
described as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin, exploring a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.
Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan, Luke Hemsworth, and Clifton Collins Jr. star.
Titled "Dreams", this new trailer features some appropriately dreamy visuals set to the Roy Orbison song "In Dreams", but the dream quickly devolves into a bloody nightmare.
I was already sold on Westworld, but this trailer did its job – it has made me even more hyped to check out the series when it premieres on HBO on Sunday, October 2nd.
