Drew Barrymore remakes the opening of SCREAM on French TV

SCREAM is my favorite movie. Horror or otherwise. The opening scene with a (young) blonde Drew Barrymore being terrorized by an unseen caller is the most frightening sequence of prolonged terror ever put to screen. At least the first time you see it… While the now infamous sequence losses a (tiny) bit of it's vigor after hundreds and hundreds of viewings, I still can make myself view it as if it were the first time, sometimes.

As much as I love the sequence, I equally love any occasion to parody it. Especially if it includes the original First Girl (is that a term? You know, like 'Final Girl'? It should be) Drew Barrymore herself in the satire. Well rejoice because, while out promoting the new series SANTA CLARITA DIET, Barrymore did just that on French TV.

Here is the SANTA CLARITA DIET synopsis:

Married couple Sheila and Joel (Barrymore and Olyphant) are real estate agents in Santa Clarita, California. The couple's lives take a dark turn after Sheila goes through a transformation – becoming a zombie who feeds on human flesh.

The Netflix original series Santa Clarita Diet is created by Victor Fresco. Fresco will serve as showrunner, along with executive producing the series with Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, Aaron Kaplan, Tracy Katsky, Chris Miller and Ember Truesdell. The 10 episode first season premieres on on NetFlix February 3.
