Voluptuous DREAMGIRLS award-winner Jennifer Hudson has joined New Line’s superfluous SEX IN THE CITY feature film, being written and directed by the show’s Michael Patrick King. Hudson will play the assistant to Sarah Jessica Parker’s endlessly jabbering Manhattan journalist. Seems like sort of a step down for someone who holds statues… but at least it’s not a comic book movie or videogame adaptation, so Hudson is already bucking trends of past female Oscar-winners. Give her time!
The movie reunites the entire cast, picking up four years after the last HBO episode to see what (and/or who) they’ve been doing. Great news for anyone who thought six seasons on cable wasn’t quite enough of fifty-something Kim Cattrall discussing her vagina and things that enter it.
