As you probably already know, Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan are currently developing a shared cinematic universe for Universal's classic movie monsters, with the first movie being Kurtzman's THE MUMMY. Well, apparently that has changed, and the first movie from the the shared universe will be Luke Evans' DRACULA UNTOLD.
Producer Alissa Phillips revealed the news in an interview with HeyUGuys, and she says although that wasn't the original plan for the film, DRACULA UNTOLD is now part of Universal's interconnected movie monsters universe. She goes on to say a teaser at the end of DRACULA UNTOLD leaves things open for future movies.
So DRACULA UNTOLD is part of the shared universe, but what happens if it bombs? There's a good chance it might, and early reviews haven't been great for the film. I haven't been too high on Universal's plans for their classic movie monsters, and adding DRACULA UNTOLD to the mix just makes even less optimistic about the project. Do you think this is a good idea, or do you believe Universal is making a mistake with their upcoming film?
DRACULA UNTOLD opens on October 10, 2014.
