We were discussing The Asylum mockbusters here on Arrow in the Head just yesterday, when we shared the trailer for their Moonfall mockbuster Moon Crash. That’s not the only mockbuster the company has coming out soon, as they have also made a film called Dracula: The Original Living Vampire, which was meant to have a release that would coincide with the release of Sony’s Marvel Comics adaptation Morbius (the character is known as Morbius the Living Vampire in the comics). But Sony keeps pushing back the Morbius release, and since that movie is now scheduled to reach theatres on April 1st, it turns out that Dracula: The Original Living Vampire is going to beat its bigger counterpart to screens by a couple months.
Dracula: The Original Living Vampire is receiving a day-and-date theatrical and VOD release on January 28th, and you can watch the trailer in the embed above.
Directed by Maximilian Elfeldt from a screenplay written by Michael Varrati, this take on Dracula has the following synopsis:
Detective Amelia Van Helsing is on the desperate hunt for the killer responsible for a string of grisly murders targeting young women. Matters only worsen when all evidence leads to the seemingly untouchable Count Dracula. And when Van Helsing’s girlfriend vanishes, she is forced to question the very existence of monsters in a final showdown with the enigmatic count.
The film stars Michael Ironside (Scanners) as Dr. Jack Seward, Jake Herbert (Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star) as Count Dracula, newcomer Christine Prouty as Amelia Van Helsing, India Lillie Davies (Call the Midwife) as Mina Murray, newcomer Ryan Woodcock as Jonathan Harker, and Stuart Packer (It Came from Below) as Captain Renfield.
Dracula: The Original Living Vampire will be showing in the following theatres from January 28th through February 3rd:
ATLANTA, GA: Area 51’s Aurora Cineplex
CLEVELAND, OH: Hickory Ridge Cinemas
LOS ANGELES, CA: Laemmle Glendale
MIAMI, FL: O Cinema South Beach
MINNEAPOLIS, MN: Trylon Cinema
