As I say this, please don’t throw too many rocks at me: I have not been part of the Dr. Who resurgence that started when David Tennant took over back in 2005. As a kid I would catch older episodes here and there on PBS, but I’ve never been a hardcore fan. Maybe someday I’ll sit down and watch the newer episodes but there’s only so many hours in the day. Sigh.
Fans of the current Dr. Who, Matt Smith, should be happy to know that he’s been cast in his first American lead. Variety has news that he will be joining HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER, which also stars Christina Hendricks and Eva Mendes. The film will be the directing debut of everyone’s favorite former Mouseketeer Ryan Gosling.
HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER is a story that “is set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city and centered on a single mother of two being swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town.”
I’m interested in seeing how this movie will look visually. It sounds like it could be pretty big in scope, especially for a first time director, but I have faith that Ryan Gosling can handle the duties.
Production on HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER is set to start this spring.
