Downton Abbey trailer reassembles the iconic cast for more refinement, drama

The original DOWNTON ABBEY series assembled one of the finest cast of actors television has ever seen, including Maggie Smith, Hugh BonnevilleElizabeth McGovern and more. For the upcoming movie, they’re all back and adorned in their splendid costumes and speaking with a level of refinement that is sure to make you feel personally extra un-fancy. The new trailer is filled with all such elegance and just a hint of drama underneath it all, so if you’re looking to get your day started on the most luxurious of notes, then the trailer for DOWNTON ABBEY awaits.

Beyond that, there’s not much else to go on with the trailer. It’s all about assembling the cast so that everyone who is a series fan can point out their favorites and get swept back into all the period glamor. This is going to be the kind of trailer that makes everyone else in the theater who isn’t on the same page scratch their heads. It’s all golden halls, polished silverware – "Who’s that person?" – expensive clothes, fancy dinners – "Why is she recruiting that old man like he’s Tony Stark?" – and so forth.

For anyone else who is a fan of this iconic English drama, it’s will be a welcome homecoming. Series creator Julian Fellowes is on the script while recurring director Michael Engler is behind the camera. The television series Downton Abbey followed the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who worked for them at the turn of the 20th century in an Edwardian English country house.  Over its 6 seasons, the series garnered 3 Golden Globe Awards, 15 Primetime Emmy Awards, 69 Emmy nominations in total, making Downton Abbey the most nominated non-US television show in the history of the Emmys – even earning a Special BAFTA award and a Guinness World Record for the highest critically rated TV show along the way.
