Actor Doug Jones has played a lot of creatures and creepy characters in his day, including The Pale Man (pictured above) in PAN'S LABYRINTH, and he has just signed on to add another horrific part to his résumé: Jones will play the title role in director Stacy Title's THE BYE BYE MAN.
Written by Jonathan Penner from author Robert Damon Schneck's short story THE BRIDGE TO BODY ISLAND, which was based on a supposedly true story that a friend told Schneck, THE BYE BYE MAN
recounts a series of terrifying events experienced by three Wisconsin college students.
Those three college students will be played by Douglas Smith, Lucien Laviscount, and Prince Harry's ex Cressida Bonas (pictured below).
Produced by Los Angeles Media Fund and Intrepid Pictures, THE BYE BYE MAN will begin filming in Cleveland, Ohio on November 2nd.
This is a project that has been in the works for a while and was once going to be made by Dimension Films. Dimension had the idea that The Bye Bye Man could be a new icon in horror, and he definitely has the potential to be. A telepathic killer who roams the United States, he can sense when people are thinking about him and then tracks them down and murders them. Blind, he's accompanied by his own version of a seeing eye dog, a creature called Gloomsinger that he made out of the tongues and eyes of his victims.
The Bye Bye Man is a cool character, and if he's brought to the screen in an effective manner he could make an impact in the horror genre. The casting of Jones is very a good sign.
