Last week we were hit with some big news as Clive Barker announced that he would be writing the screenplay for the upcoming HELLRAISER remake, which would also see Doug Bradley return as the iconic villain, Pinhead. Well, it turns out that he may have gotten just a little bit ahead of himself. Bradley recently weighed in on the situation basically stating that he had never been contacted or spoken to about returning for the remake, and right now it's all rumors as far as his involvement goes.
Here's what he said on Facebook:
Hi everyone! Just arrived in Orlando for Spooky Empire, to be greeted by the news via FearNet and Clive Barkers Facebook that he is writing a new Hellraiser script and intends that I should play Pinhead again. This is intriguing news, about which I know absolutely nothing. No one has contacted or spoken to me about returning. So until you hear from me to the contrary, assume that all rumors about me returning as Pinhead are only rumors.
And then, during Spooky Empire, Bradley elaborated even more on the situation in which he basically told the audience in attendance that the remake is in the same situation it was in six years ago when Dimension first announced it. Clive Barker still has to pitch his idea to the studio, and according to Bradley he says that they are still two to three months out from even having the first draft. So, I'm getting this vibe that Bradley is very much on the fence with this remake, and I don't blame him. We've seen the film in this situation before with nothing materializing. That being said, Bradley does go on to say that IF (and that's a big if) the film gets the all important green light, then he wants to be the one to bring Pinhead back to life and not someone else. You can hear what he had to say in the video below!
