Actress and director Olivia Wilde has taken to social media to praise the cast and crew of her next directorial effort, Don't Worry Darling, and in her latest Instagram post, she has shared a first-look image of Harry Styles from the film and she used that moment to praise the singer turned actor for letting Florence Pugh shine in the film.
Wilde posted the black and white image of Styles sitting on a car from the 1950s on her Instagram page and gives credit to Styles, who is also her rumored new boyfriend, for allowing a woman "to hold the spotlight." Here is what Wilde had to say and you can also check out the Instagram post below:
"No joke, it is harrrrrd to find actors who recognize why it might be worth it to allow for a woman to hold the spotlight. Enter: Harry Styles, our 'Jack.' Not only did he relish the opportunity to allow for the brilliant Florence Pugh to hold center stage as our 'Alice', but he infused every scene with a nuanced sense of humanity. He didn't have to join our circus, but he jumped on board with humility and grace, and blew us away every day with his talent, warmth, and ability to drive backwards."
Styles was a late addition to the cast as he replaced Shia LaBeouf who had allegedly dropped out due to "scheduling conflicts." It was later reported that LaBeouf was fired by Wilde for violating her "no a**hole policy" on set after he clashed with cast and crew. Judging from Wilde's kind words for Styles, it looks like he had no problem jumping right into the project.
The plot of Don't Worry Darling is a bit unknown, but it is described as a psychological thriller centering on an unhappy housewife in the 1950s who discovers a disturbing truth while her husband hides a dark secret. Katie Silberman writes the film along with Carey and Shane Van Dyle and a lot of eyes are on this project because it finds actress Olivia Wilde behind the camera once again after she earned raves for her directorial debut with the coming-of-age comedy, Booksmart. In addition to Styles and Pugh, the film also stars Chris Pine, Kiki Layne, Gemma Chan, Nick Kroll, and Wilde.
