I wasn't entirely sure what to expect going into A QUIET PLACE, the post-apocalyptic horror film co-written and directed by John Krasinski, but I found myself mighty impressed, and based upon the rave reviews and the box-office success of the film, so did plenty of others. Although A QUIET PLACE never struck me as a film which needed a sequel, Paramount Pictures got the ball rolling on one nonetheless which will find the surviving members of the Abbott family facing new terrors as they fight for survival in silence. Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe have all returned to reprise their roles, and the studio has just released a brand-new trailer for the horror sequel to set the stage for the new year.
John Krasinski returned to write and direct A QUIET PLACE: PART II, which he's previously teased won't be your typical sequel. "Most sequels are about a villain returning or a hero returning, and you have to build this entire world around just the idea that I have a hero or a villain. That’s a lot, and I think that’s where a lot of sequels go wrong because as much as you love that hero or villain, the entire thing is fabricated just to make that person work," Krasinski said. "[With A QUIET PLACE 2], we have the world. So it’s actually the world that’s built, it’s the idea that the rest of the world is going through this exact same experience. Are there other people that have to survive like this? It’s that idea of living through the set of circumstances, not again in the same way obviously, but exploring it more. You only got to do it intimately for a small amount of time, so what happens next?"
