Let's face it, CELL is not Stephen King's best book. However, it has a killer opening scene and enough thematic material for director Tod Williams to make a solid movie out of. Plus, John Cusack is a born King lead. He's proven this before in 1408, but his Everyman vibes gel perfectly with King's twisted visions of suburbia. So let's not write this film adaptation off just yet.
Two new images have surfaced, featuring Cusack with co-stars Samuel L. Jackson and Isabelle Fuhrman. They're pretty tame, avoiding the infamous bloodbath that opens the novel, but they're still worth a look to see the characters in action. Check 'em out below!
When a powerful signal is broadcast across mobile networks worldwide, cell phone users' minds are instantly and dangerously re-programmed. Heading north through New England in search of his wife and son, Clay Riddell (Cusack) is joined by a group of survivors hoping to fend off the bloodthirsty and hyper-connected "phoners."
CELL also stars Stacy Keach and will be released in theaters later this year.
