Five years have passed since director Fede Alvarez and actor Stephen Lang introduced us to the Blind Man in Don't Breathe (watch it HERE). Now the Blind Man is back in Don't Breathe 2, which is set to reach theatres on August 13th, and a trailer has arrived online to give a preview of the brutality he'll be dealing out to people this time around. You can watch the trailer in the embed above.
Alvarez's Don't Breathe co-writer Rodo Sayagues makes his feature directorial debut with the sequel. Written by Alvarez and Sayagues, Don't Breathe 2 is set
several years after the home invasion of the first movie, with the Blind Man living in quiet solace… until his past sins catch up to him.
The Blind Man has been hiding out for years in an isolated cabin and has taken in and raised a young girl orphaned from a house fire. Their quiet existence is shattered when a group of kidnappers show up and take the girl, forcing the Blind Man to leave his safe haven to save her.
Lang is joined in the cast by Adam Young, Bobby Schofield, and Rocci Williams.
Don't Breathe 2 has been rated R for "strong bloody violence, gruesome images, and language"… and we hear that some of the violence and gruesomeness involves a disturbing use of super glue.
Alvarez and Sayagues produced the film with Rob Tapert and genre icon Sam Raimi. When they were promoting the first movie, Raimi said the idea Alvarez and Sayagues had for Don't Breathe 2 was "only the greatest idea for a sequel I've ever heard."
I'll be watching the sequel when it's released, but I definitely never expected the great idea to be another home invasion set-up where the Blind Man, who did some seriously repugnant things in the first film, would come out looking like the hero this time. Are we supposed to forgive him for the turkey baster?
