Don’t Breathe 2 red band trailer previews violence from next week’s release

Director Rodo Sayagues' Don't Breathe 2 will be getting a theatrical release in just nine days, on August 13th, and a red band version of the trailer has arrived online today to show us a bit more of the violence the film contains, and to drop some lines that can't be included in a green band trailer. You can watch the red band trailer in the embed above.

Just like the first Don't Breathe (watch it HERE), Don't Breathe 2 has been written by Fede Alvarez and Sayagues. Alvarez directed the first film, but passed the directing duties on the sequel over to Sayagues. The story they crafted for the sequel is set

several years after the home invasion of the first movie, with the Blind Man living in quiet solace… until his past sins catch up to him.

The Blind Man has been hiding out for years in an isolated cabin and has taken in and raised a young girl orphaned from a house fire. Their quiet existence is shattered when a group of kidnappers show up and take the girl, forcing the Blind Man to leave his safe haven to save her.

Stephen Lang reprises the role of the Blind Man and is joined in the cast by Adam Young, Bobby Schofield, Rocci Williams, and Madelyn Grace.

Don't Breathe 2 has already received some backlash from fans who are bothered by the fact that the trailer seems to present the Blind Man as the hero of this film. Alvarez has defended the sequel's depiction of the Blind Man, saying he's not the hero or an anti-hero in the movie. Instead, he's an "anti-villain".

Alvarez and Sayagues produced the film with Rob Tapert and genre icon Sam Raimi. When they were promoting the first movie, Raimi said the idea Alvarez and Sayagues had for Don't Breathe 2 was "only the greatest idea for a sequel I've ever heard."

Don't Breathe 2 has been rated R for "strong bloody violence, gruesome images, and language".
