Donald Glover posts a new script for Deadpool: The Animated Series

This weekend some pretty heartbreaking news came out that FX was not going to move forward with the animated DEADPOOL series from Donald Glover and his brother Stephen. We don’t exactly know the reason, but I for certain know I’m sad and confused. Glover may be as well, or perhaps he’s angry. Either way, he was excited for the world to see the show and took to Twitter to offer a response, while at the same time giving everyone a taste of the magic we could’ve had.

Glover has taken to Twitter this morning to post a very new script (days, in fact) he’s written in the vein of the show, tweeting “for the record: i wasn’t too busy to work on deadpool.”. In the script, Deadpool is hired to protect Sudan – the last male white male rhino who died recently – and in the process of guarding him tries to figure out why his show got canceled while dealing with the rising and falling value of Bitcoin. So, yes, it’s a very Deadpool response to the whole thing and is enough to make you hate whoever was dumb enough to make the call to not move forward with this show.

You can see the tweet below and click on it to read the whole 14-page script, which you should do because it's filled with jokes, references, bloody kills and a dark ending that is also a bit endearing. Can I also say genius? I'm gonna say genius.

It was announced a few days ago that FX was going to move forward with the show, saying "Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel’s Deadpool animated series. FX will no longer be involved with the project. FX and Marvel have an ongoing relationship through our partnership on Legion, which will continue.

Now, lest we forget our film history, the DEADPOOL movie (with Ryan Reynolds) was famously started and stopped, crushing people's hopes and dreams. However, footage then leaked online, and when everyone saw how awesome it looked, Fox decided to get the ball rolling again, and thus one of their biggest hits was born. Though this is not an actual show script, maybe if enough people show their support for this approach it will get things moving again. Just saying, it's happened to Deadpool once before.

In the meantime, we can look forward to DEADPOOL 2, in theaters May 18.
