Domhnall Gleeson to join Leonardo DiCaprio & Tom Hardy in The Revenant

Alejandro Iñárritu's BIRDMAN starring Michael Keaton is looking fantastic, however I'm equally excited for his next project, the revenge western THE REVENANT. Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy were previously cast in the Michael Punke adaptation, and Variety is reporting STAR WARS: EPISODE VII's Domhnall Gleeson will join them in the upcoming film. THE REVENANT also stars Will Poulter (THE MAZE RUNNER, SON OF RAMBOW), and production on the film will start this fall.

THE REVENANT will follow Leonardo DiCaprio's fur trapper Hugh Glass as he seeks revenge on the two men who left him for dead after he is viciously attacked by a grizzly bear. Although it hasn't been confirmed, Tom Hardy and Domhnall Gleeson will probably play the two men who abandon DiCaprio's character.

That's a pretty solid cast Alejandro Iñárritu has lined up for THE REVENANT, and the word is he wants to film it in sequence, like he did for BIRDMAN. I've been a fan of Domhnall Gleeson ever since first seeing him in the sketch comedy series Your Bad Self, and I'm glad to see him join yet another interesting project.

Domhnall Gleeson's CALVARY (which also stars his father Brendan Gleeson) opens in select theaters today, and THE REVENANT is set to be released on December 25, 2015.
