Ahh, the “action-thriller.” A label so wide in its potential meaning. So how is an “action-thriller” supposed to differentiate itself from the herd? Scoring the director (Niels Arden Oplev) and star (Noomi Rapace) of the original Swedish rendition of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO is probably a good place to start, and then pulling in a post-IN BRUGES Colin Farrell and rising star/damn good actor Dominc Cooper is a good place to go from there.
“Oplev and leading lady Rapace reunite for another thrilling tale of vengeance, with Farrell joining the team as Victor, right hand man to an underground crime lord in New York City who is seduced and blackmailed by Beatrice (Rapace), a crime victim seeking retribution. Their intense chemistry leads them spiraling into payback delivered in violent catharsis.”
We first reported on this killer (as it were) flick last November, and now not only is Cooper in talks to play “Darcy, a family man who works as Farrell’s partner on the street” but production is scheduled to begin later this month.
You’ll definitely be getting more as we hear it.
