The first trailer for AMC's Preacher aired last night during The Walking Dead, and although it is a bit shorter than I expected, it still provides us with a decent look at the upcoming series. The small screen take on the Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon comic series was developed by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Breaking Bad's Sam Catlin, and stars Dominic Cooper (DRACULA UNTOLD) as Jesse Custer, Ruth Negga (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Tulip O'Hare and Joseph Gilgun (THE LAST WITCH HUNTER, This is England) as Cassidy.
"Almost done, Sheriff."
Synopsis:
Preacher is the story of Jesse Custer, a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip, and an Irish vampire named Cassidy embark on a journey to, literally, find God.
I can't say that I'm pleased with some of the changes Rogen and company seem to have made for their television adaptation of one of my favorite comic series (I actually own a "F*ck Communism" Zippo lighter), but I'm definitely still planning on checking the series out. What are your thoughts on this first real look at Preacher?
Preacher is scheduled to debut on AMC in mid-2016.
