Damn! The cast of James Wan's AQUAMAN just got a little more exciting with the addition of Dolph Lundgren. With production on the DCEU flick inching closer to its expected May start date, the remainder of the cast is being rounded up. THR reports that Dolph Lundgren has joined the cast of AQUAMAN as King Nereus, the leader of the aquatic kingdom of Xebel who claims Mera (Amber Heard) as his own and wants to kill Aquaman (Jason Momoa).
With the expection of THE EXPENDABLES franchise, it's been some time since Dolph Lundgren took part in a film of this size, but it seems that I'm not the only one excited by his casting as AQUAMAN director James Wan quickly took to Twitter to welcome Lundgren aboard.
Been hardest (and most excited) secret to sit on. But finally, welcome to Atlantis @Dolph_Lundgren #KingNereus #KingdomOfXebel https://t.co/qpDU00nVSd

AQUAMAN will star Jason Momoa as the title character as well as Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna, Willem Dafoe as Dr. Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta and Temuera Morrison as Aquaman's father. Lundgren may be twenty years older than Jason Momoa, but he's proven time and time again that he's still got what it takes to kick some serious ass, so I've got my fingers crossed for a fantastic hard-hitting fight scene between the pair.
AQUAMAN is set for a December 21, 2018 release, but our next look at Aquaman will arrive with JUSTICE LEAGUE on November 17, 2017 in which the character will be properly introduced after his brief cameo in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE.
The official synopsis for JUSTICE LEAGUE:
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
