Doktor Death: Full Moon announces October release date for Puppet Master spin-off

Arrow in the Head recently got the exclusive first look at a batch images from the Puppet Master spin-off Doktor Death (you can see those HERE), and a few weeks ago Full Moon founder Charles Band unveiled some footage from the film in an episode of his weekly video series Full Moon Universe. Now Band has announced a release date for Doktor Death, and it’s very close. In fact, we’re going to be able to watch this one for Halloween! It will be available on the Full Moon Features streaming service as of October 28th.

Back in 2020, Full Moon brought us the first “solo puppet” Puppet Master spin-off, Blade: The Iron CrossDoktor Death was announced soon after the release of that one, and at the time Blade: The Iron Cross director John Lechago was expected to return to the helm. By the time filming began, Dave Parker was in the director’s chair. Parker’s previous directing credits include The Dead Hate the Living! and The Hills Run Red, plus a segment of the anthology Tales of Halloween.

A synopsis for Doktor Death was sent out in 2020, but Parker has said that it’s “all wrong” and not accurate to the movie he has made. Since a new synopsis isn’t available yet, here’s that outdated one: “Doktor Death, one of the original “living puppets”, is BACK, complete with sinister surgeries and deadly drugs. In this stand-alone shocker, a beautiful young med student is trapped in an erotic nightmare and must face-off against the demon that inhabits the evil puppet. Fantasy and reality bleed together in this eerie PUPPET MASTER chiller.” We’ll have to wait and see just how different the story of the finished movie is.

The Doktor Death puppet was previously featured in the 1999 release Retro Puppet Master.
