In an interview with Collider, actress Elizabeth Olsen – who plays Scarlet Witch in Disney's MCU films – had only great things to say about Sam Raimi, who is directing her in the upcoming Marvel sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. She even teased that he will be utilizing his iconic, frenetic camera-style in the film!
Here's the pertinent quote:
He’s an incredible person to work with. He’s just such a unique human and I just think it’s fun getting to work with someone with such specific goals. And I love his use of camera and it’s definitely a use of camera that I’m not used to at all. So I guess that might answer your question!
That's great to hear! And I'm personally excited about this one, as 2016's Doctor Strange – despite a bit of a boilerplate script – is still one of the more visually arresting Marvel films, and at least had a clever climax, so I'm looking forward to the sequel to see more adventures of the hero. But the addition of Raimi – who seems to be harkening back to its roots, according to Olsen – and the possible inclusion of Blade, puts this at my most highly-anticapted MCU release in a while!
Meanwhile, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – also starring Benedict Cumberbatch as titular Strange – is expected to hit theaters March 25, 2022!
So what do you guys think? Fans of Doctor Strange? Either way, looking forward to the sequel? Sound off below!
