District B13 is getting an American remake with Paul Walker in talks to star

If you felt DISTRICT B13 was too damn French for its own good, then BRICK MANSIONS may be the film for you!

Yes, BRICK MANSIONS is the title of Luc Besson and Europa Corp’s own American remake of their highly entertaining 2004 action film. And according to Deadline, FAST and often FURIOUS actor Paul Walker is in talks to take on the film’s undercover detective role (played in the French original by Cyril Raffaelli). The action this time around is said to likely be taking place in Chicago. Here’s the story per Deadline if you’re unfamiliar:

“Walker will play an undercover detective chasing a weapon of mass destruction that was stolen by a drug dealer in the ghetto known as Brick Mansions. He seeks help from the incredibly agile Lino, who knows Brick Mansions better than anyone and is the only person not cowering in fear of the drug dealers.”

Just like the French film. And funny enough, just like the French film, Parkour-founder David Belle will return to play ‘Lino’ once again! Apparently, Besson would only make the movie if Belle was allowed to star.

Good idea? Bad idea? Check out the trailer for the French original below and then let us know what you think!
