Disney’s Aladdin remake finds its Aladdin cast with Will Smith & more

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

In more casting news out of D23, we have learned that the live-action ALADDIN movie has cast Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott (POWER RANGERS) as Aladdin and Jasmine, with confirmation that Will Smith will indeed voice Genie.  No word yet on which furniture outlet will be supplying the carpet.

This news comes off a report that Disney was having trouble finding their Aladdin after having gone through extensive casting. However, in that report, there were three names that Disney was apparently hoping to pick their leading man from, and Massoud was on the list. Scott was already in contention for Jasmine, so it looks like Disney decided to make it official. Smith’s link to the role had been announced some time ago, and now the casting is set in stone.

Guy Ritchie will be directing the live-action musical, which is hoping to start production this year.
