Disney+ announces Monsters Inc. animated series with Crystal & Goodman

A new animated series set in Pixar's MONSTERS INC. universe has been announced, and it looks as if the House of Mouse will be scaring up some of the franchise's original stars to reprise their roles for another spirited monster mash. The show is currently scheduled for a 2020 premiere on Disney's upcoming streaming platform, Disney+, with Billy Crystal and John Goodman returning to reprise their roles as Mike and Sulley, respectively.

Produced by Disney Television Animation and inspired by the world of Disney and Pixar’s Oscar-winning Monsters, Inc., the new animation is titled MONSTERS AT WORK. The story picks up six months after the events of the original film, following Mike and Sulley's discovery that children's laughter (not their screams of terror) are a more powerful source of energy to help fuel their hidden world.

MONSTERS AT WORK follows Tylor Tuskmon (voiced by Ben Feldman), an eager and talented young mechanic on the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (MIFT) who dreams of working his way up to the factory Laugh Floor to become a Jokester alongside his idols Mike and Sulley.

Starring alongside Feldman is Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) as Val Little, Tylor’s lifelong friend and confidante; Henry Winkler (Barry) as Fritz, the scatterbrained boss; Lucas Neff (Raising Hope) as Duncan, an opportunistic plumber; Alanna Ubach (Coco) as Cutter, the officious rule follower; and Stephen Stanton (Star Wars Resistance) as Smitty and Needleman, the bumbling custodial team. A wealth of returning castmembers are expected to travel back to the world of Monsters Inc. for the new animated series, such as John Ratzenberger as Yeti. Meanwhile, Ratzenberger will also provide the voice of a new character named Bernard, while Jennifer Tilly will play Celia Mae, with Bob Peterson as Roze, twin sister to his original MONSTERS INC. character, Roz.

The MONSTERS AT WORK marks yet another exciting endeavor destined for Disney+, the streaming service that will host a library of the studio's original films and TV shows as well as brand-new Marvel superhero spin-offs starring Hollywood's biggest stars. If you ask me, Disney+ looks to be working real hard at giving fans a reason to subscribe to their service, especially with the promise of more Star Wars-related content on the way, such as Jon Favreau's THE MANDELORIAN. My advice is to prepare your wallets, folks, because the mouse is looking to set up shop in your house. Pretty soon they'll be going door-to-door, fitting subscribers for their mouse ears. You can laugh about that image now … but just you wait.
