Director teases special cameo at the end of Zombieland: Double Tap

One of the best things, possibly the greatest thing, about VENOM director Ruben Fleischer's 2009 zombie comedy ZOMBIELAND is when Bill Murray shows up in a cameo as himself. A version of himself that happens to be living through a zombie apocalypse. 10 years later we're finally getting a sequel to ZOMBIELAND, ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP, and Fleischer hinted during an interview with Total Film that DOUBLE TAP will feature some kind of special cameo as well:

I share that love of Bill Murray in the first one. I don’t know how you could ever top that, but if someone were to stay to the finish of the film, perhaps they might see something a little special…"

Fleischer also talked a bit about the fact that the zombies in this franchise have evolved in the ten years between the first ZOMBIELAND and ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP – so much that he even compared them to Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800 from THE TERMINATOR.

There is an evolution of the zombies and they go in different directions, each with their own kind of personality."

We'll see what these evolved zombies are like, and what cameo shenanigans Fleischer has in store for us, when ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP is released on October 18th.

Directed by Fleischer from a screenplay by Dave Callaham and the original film's writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP has the following synopsis:

The comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland. The zombie slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. Most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.

The film stars returning leads Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin, along with new additions Zoey Deutch, Avan Jogia, Rosario Dawson, Luke Wilson, and Thomas Middleditch.
