Last month Bryan Singer said the one scene featuring Anna Paquin as Rogue had been cut from X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, but she appeared on an Empire cover that was released a few days ago. So what's the deal? Is she in it, or not?
Kind of, says Bryan Singer. In an interview with Empire, Singer says although the scene with Rogue has been cut, she will still appear in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.
"It does not mean that we won't see her in the film. Also, I hope to make the sequence available on the DVD as she was quite wonderful in it. She is an important part of the X-Men family. I 'm very pleased she will remain as one of Empire's anniversary covers."
Writer Simon Kinberg on why the scene was cut from the film:
"It was one real sequence in the movie. We felt like it was taking tension out of the main story drive."
It sounds like Rogue will appear in the film, but only in the background of some scenes. That should make some fans happy, although most of you seemed pretty thrilled she wasn't going to be in the upcoming movie when the news was first announced. At least we'll (probably) be able to check out the sequence when X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is released on DVD and Blu-ray.
X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will hit theaters on May 23rd, 2014.
