According to Collider, director Francis Lawrence (CONSTANTINE, I AM LEGEND) is taking on the rest of THE HUNGER GAMES saga. The filmmaker is currently shooting THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, and has committed to finishing out the series with the final film THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY, which of course is being split into two films.
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE will open November 22, 2013. THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY: PART 1 is due out on November 21, 2014 and THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY: PART 2 is set for November 20, 2015.
And it looks like Joe Carnahan will re-team with his THE A-TEAM co-star Patrick Wilson for STRETCH. No details on story or additional cast members, let alone who wrote the sucker, but the announcement is out there. I thought Wilson was outstanding in THE A-TEAM and fit well with Carnahan’s brand. Carnahan seems to be perpetually juggling projects, what with DEATH WISH, KILLING PABLO, and the now-dead DAREDEVIL reboot, so it’s hard to know just what he’s going to push out next.
More as these develop.
