Did Frank Grillo test for a role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier?

Development on CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is coming along right now, especially in the way of casting.

There was a great line-up of actresses being considered for the lead female role in the film. Rumor has it that Mary Elizabeth Winstead has locked down that part. This is unconfirmed though, so take it with a grain of salt. Anthony Mackie will be another new name to the franchise as well, playing the part of The Falcon. Now it seems that Mackie’s co-star in GANGSTER SQUAD might be gearing up for a significant part of his own.

Before Frank Grillo revealed that he had met with Marvel Studios, radio host Matthew Aaron got something off his chest via Twitter:

There is no word from Marvel Studios on whether the actor tested for this specific part, but one can see why Aaron would be excited about it. Grillo has been great in roles on shows like PRISON BREAK and THE SHIELD. Then there’s also big screen parts in THE GREY, WARRIOR; and coming soon, ZERO DARK THIRTY and GANGSTER SQUAD.

Grillo then tweeted about the meeting, and later even used the hashtag #bones. Let’s just hope he’s not playing with us. It seems that the original tweets are no longer there, but this is what he said on the 20th:

“See Ya LA. It was a a good trip. Marvel was a lot of fun. Be cool if it works out. #CaptainAmerica.”

“WOW. Badass fans that Marvel has. Fierce muthas. #bones”

Crossbones also known as (Brock Rumlow), “usually appeared in the comics as a henchman to the Red Skull. He also has a significant role in the “Civil War” storyline that also includes Falcon and Winter Solider, so this could be exactly where Marvel is drawing their story from.”

Anyone see Grillo in this role? Or what about fan favorite, Kevin Durand?
