It's with a heavy heart that we bring you the news of actress Glenne Headly's passing. The Emmy-nominated actress and originating member of the Steppenwolf Theater company, passed away last night at the age of 63. Although her representatives have confirmed the loss, no official word as to the cause of her death has been released to the public at this time. Headly's untimely departure comes while the seasoned actress was participating in the production of FUTURE MAN, an upcoming series courtesy of Hulu.
In giving their statement about the grim news, Headly's reps said, “It is with deep sorrow that we confirm the passing of Glenne Headly. We ask that her family’s privacy be respected in this difficult time.” Headly is survived by her husband Byron McCulloch and son Stirling.
As a lover of both stage and screen, Headly began her career via a string of productions beside other notable personalities including Extremities with Susan Sarandon, as well as Kevin Kline and Raul Julia in Arms & The Man, which had been directed by her ex-husband John Malkovich. Following her time on the stage, both large and small, Headly appeared as a part of the cast of Lonesome Dove before landing a co-starring role alongside Michael Caine and Steve Martin in the 1988 crime comedy DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS. For me, my favorite role of Headly's was her turn as Tess Trueheart in the Warren Beatty-directed comic-to-film adaptation of DICK TRACY. Headly's other credits include such projects as MR. HOLLAND'S OPUS, MORTAL THOUGHTS, 2 DAYS IN THE VALLEY and MONK.
On behalf of myself and the rest of us here at JoBlo.com, we extend our deepest sympathies to Ms. Headly's family, friends, and co-workers in film. May you all find peace in the wake of this most unfortunate loss, and summon the strength to carry her memory with you for the rest of your days.
