George A. Romero’s DIARY OF THE DEAD hasn’t even been widely released but producer Peter Grunwald confirmed that DIARY 2 will becoming soon. Fangoria sat down with Peter Grunwald to talk about the sequel, in which he states:
“This will be a true sequel,” he tells us, “the next chapter in the adventure that began with DIARY, with many of the same characters and actors. It’s the first time George has done that with one of his DEAD films, and it’s going to be a really cool, interesting departure.”
DIARY OF THE DEAD the film I am dying to see. I’ve always been a huge Romero fan and to know he’s really going back to his roots makes me want more! Grunswald also had this to say:
“The film will be shot in the first person, and in HD, like DIARY, but the themes will shift and broaden,” Grunwald continues. “George has always tried not to repeat himself and he never makes a film unless he has something to say, but you’ll have to wait till the script leaks on-line to find out what he’s up to this time. And the film will be shot in Canada. Details to follow.”
I have yet to see DIARY OF THE DEAD but I already know from the buzz that it warrants a sequel or twelve. The film will be released by Dimension on February 15, so I expect everyone there! More on DIARY 2 as it happens. To read the Fango article, click here
