Actress DeWanda Wise has been working steadily for over a decade, landing roles on shows like The Good Wife, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Boardwalk Empire, and The Mentalist, but she has been boosted to a new level over the last couple years. Among other things, she took the lead role in the Spike Lee series She's Gotta Have It and appeared in an episode of Jordan Peele's The Twilight Zone reboot.
Now Wise has been cast in a leading role in JURASSIC WORLD 3.
Wise will be starring in the film alongside returning JURASSIC franchise stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum. Her fellow new addition Mamoudou Athie also has a lead role.
JURASSIC WORLD director Colin Trevorrow returns to the helm for this sequel and has written the screenplay with Emily Carmichael. Trevorrow crafted the story with his JURASSIC WORLD and JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM co-writer Derek Connolly.
Plot details are under wraps, but we know the film will be dealing with the fact that dinosaurs were set loose into the California countryside at the end of FALLEN KINGDOM. Trevorrow recently made a short film called BATTLE AT BIG ROCK that takes place between FALLEN KINGDOM and JURASSIC WORLD 3 and shows a scary encounter between humans and dinosaurs in mainland America.
A collaboration between Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, JURASSIC WORLD 3 is being executive produced by Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg, with Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley producing. Sara Scott, senior vice president of production at Universal, is overseeing the project for the studio.
JURASSIC WORLD 3 (or whatever it ends up being called) is set to reach theatres on June 11, 2021.
