It was announced a few months ago that Fangoria #348 would mark the second time in the magazine's history that an issue would be edited and curated by a guest editor – the first time having been Hannibal's Bryan Fuller on issue #343. #348's guest editor is RED STATE / TUSK / YOGA HOSERS director Kevin Smith, and it was supposed to be on store shelves by the end of July. Unfortunately, Fangoria has been going through a rough patch lately, so the issue ended up being delayed.
Fangoria has now announced that the digital edition of issue #348 is ready to go, set to be made availabe through the Fangoria.com store later today. The magazine's subscribers should also be receiving a complimentary copy in their inboxes soon. Along with this announcement comes the unveiling of the issue's cover, which can be seen below, and the reveal of the issue's contents.
Fangoria #348 will include an exclusive essay by Kevin Smith on his personal horror fandom, as well as articles related to some of his favorite entries in the genre – RE-ANIMATOR, AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, MOTEL HELL, the YOGA HOSERS-inspiring PUPPET MASTER. Among the more Smith-centric articles are an interview with him; a retrospective on the rape/revenge film VULGAR, which he executive produced; a piece on the great Michael Parks, who starred in Smith's RED STATE and TUSK; and an exclusive preview of what Smith and special effects artist Robert Kurtzman have in store for audiences with MOOSE JAWS, the final chapter in Smith's True North Trilogy (following TUSK and YOGA HOSERS).
Also featured in the issue will be Fede Alvarez / DON'T BREATHE, Eric Red, THE MIND'S EYE, LAKE NOWHERE, Stranger Things, and more, including an interview with director Tom McLoughlin, looking back on his film JASON LIVES: FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VI thirty years later.
This sounds like an awesome issue. Kevin Smith, '80s classics, an article on the movie that got me into horror (JASON LIVES)… it's almost like this was put together specifically with me in mind.
Information on a physical edition of the issue (and the last few issues) is forthcoming. In the meantime, here is the full list of Fangoria #348's contents:
