I'm not sure how "horror" this new book is but considering that I just started re-reading Thomas Harris' HANNIBAL this weekend, I think it's badass news and I pretty much HAD to share it with you guys here today. Harris – who is best known as the author of RED DRAGON and SILENCE OF THE LAMBS – has a new novel headed our way this May. And today we have not only the details of the new book but the cover art as well.
Here's the rundown on the book, CARI MORA (pre-order HERE) via Amazon:
From the creator of Hannibal Lecter and The Silence of the Lambs comes a story of evil, greed, and the consequences of dark obsession. Twenty-five million dollars in cartel gold lies hidden beneath a mansion on the Miami Beach waterfront. Ruthless men have tracked it for years. Leading the pack is Hans-Peter Schneider. Driven by unspeakable appetites, he makes a living fleshing out the violent fantasies of other, richer men. Cari Mora, the caretaker of the house, has escaped from the violence in her native country. She stays in Miami on a wobbly Temporary Protected Status, subject to the iron whim of ICE. She works at many jobs to survive. Beautiful, marked by war, Cari catches the eye of Hans-Peter as he closes in on the treasure. But Cari Mora has surprising skills, and her will to survive has been tested before. Monsters lurk in the crevices between male desire and female survival. No other writer in the last century has conjured those monsters with more terrifying brilliance than Thomas Harris.
For those of you keeping score at home, CARI MORA is only the sixth – one more time for the cheap seats – the sixth novel written by Harris. Along with the above-mentioned RED DRAGON, THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS and HANNIBAL, Harris has also penned a novel called BLACK SUNDAY (about a plot by terrorists to commit mass murder during the Super Bowl), and a Hannibal the Cannibal prequel novel HANNIBAL RISING.
Again, I don't know how much this book will be within the realms of "horror" but I don't think many would argue that when it comes to the next novel from Thomas Harris, horror fans want to know about it. And speaking of which, more info on the book at this time includes that fact that the book's Hardcover edition runs 320 pages and it's coming our way via Grand Central Publishing. Check out the cover art below before it hits on May 21, 2019.
