The Blumhouse / Hulu series Into the Dark consists of twelve feature films that are being released on a monthly schedule, with each movie having something to do with a notable date in the month of its release. For example, the October entry was set on Halloween, Christmas was covered in December, the February one dealt with Valentine's Day, etc. This month is the Father's Day movie, and next month's Into the Dark offering has an Independence Day theme.
Now details have been revealed on the August Into the Dark movie, and this one isn't about a specific date. In August, the series will be celebrating the start of the new school year with a film titled SCHOOL SPIRIT.
Directed by Mike Gan from a script he wrote with Patrick Casey and Josh Miller, this back-to-school horror story follows
a group of social outcasts who are stuck in weekend detention and then confronted by the school’s legendary hauntings.
Corey Fogelmanis, Annie Q, Jessi Case, Julian Works, Philip Labes, and Hugo Armstrong star. Fogelmanis, pictured above, can currently be seen on the big screen in the Blumhouse production MA.
SCHOOL SPIRIT will premiere on the Hulu streaming service on August 2nd.
Gan made his feature directorial debut with a thriller called BURN (which was shot under the title PLUME), but since that movie hasn't been released yet SCHOOL SPIRIT will be the first Gan-directed feature most of us will get to see.
I'll be watching, like I watch every Into the Dark movie.
