CAPTAIN AMERICA has a pretty big ensemble cast at this point, and we know most of who will be playing who (whom?), but now add one more role that is no longer a question mark.
ANTOINE FISHER’s Derek Luke has been cast in an unspecified role for a while now, but according to BlackFilm.com, it’s now specified. Luke will be playing Gabe Jones, a member of the elite Howling Commandos unit.
“As the first African-American to serve in an integrated unit, Jones, who was also known for carrying his trumpet into battle, is one of the close confidantes to Sergeant Nick Fury, who would later become the head of the organization S.H.I.E.L.D. Jones would later join him as an agent.”
This is of course comic lore, and the whole “first black guy in an integrated unit” thing might be changed as in this universe, Fury is also black in the form of Samuel L. Jackson.
No word on how much of his backstory we’ll see in the film, or what exactly he’ll be doing, but there you have it, Gabe Jones is in the movie. Now, give us some more Red Skull picture please.
