Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner sequel gets an official title

The BLADE RUNNER sequel, set several decades after the original ended, will be directed by Denis Villeneuve (ARRIVAL, SICARIO) and stars Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling. While fans stay cautiously optimistic about how the film may turn out given the talent involved, we’ve been waiting patiently for any details to come our way. After all, if Deckard was a replicant, how is he still alive? While we don’t have the answer to that question just yet, we do have an official title; BLADE RUNNER 2049.

For those keeping track, the original film took place in the year 2019. That pushes the sequel a little further into the future of the BLADE RUNNER universe, but I don’t think anyone will have qualms with that. We’re still one year away from the film’s release, so there’s a lot of time for news, pictures and other goodies to be released before we’re watching this on the silver screen. Speaking of, check out some of the cast and crew in the picture below!

BLADE RUNNER 2049 opens in theaters on October 6, 2017.
