So it appears that there are officially “star vehicles” being developed for one Patrick Dempsey. The man doesn’t strike me as supremely talented, but middle-aged housewives go bananas for him so in the eyes of the studios, he’s gold. Dempsey has just signed on to star in THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN, a film based on the best-selling novel by Garth Stein. In it, Dempsey plays race-car driver Denny Swift, a man who we learn about through the philosophical musings of his dog Enzo.Somehow I can’t see them using a CGI-affected dog who narrates the story, so they’ll probably just get James Earl Jones to do some voice over. Sound good?
